The Government of the Republic of Namibia, through the Ministry of Health and Social Services, and the Namibia Planned Parenthood Association (NAPPA), a Member Association of IPPF, recently signed a cooperative agreement for the provision of sexual and reproductive health commodities to NAPPA.
Discussions on the agreement started at the end of 2009, after NAPPA satisfactorily demonstrated its strength in the provision of SRH services to the general public and most specifically the underserved and marginalized youth. The reciprocal agreement paves the way for NAPPA to receive SRH commodities from Government at no cost. It is expected that NAPPA, in turn, will distribute and provide services freely to its constituency while maintaining quality reporting standards that will be fed into the country’s information management systems.
Other provisions of the agreement includes technical assistance and support to NAPPA health workers in all related public health areas, such as for example; training in conducting pap smears; breast cancer examinations; Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC); modern family planning methods; training of Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV related areas
This agreement is second to the other signed in July 2010 with the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture – that will allow NAPPA to operate Adolescent Friendly Health Services Clinics in the 13 Youth Multi-Purpose Centres across the country. Thus far, two clinics out of the 13 are being opened in 2011 with the support of the IPPF Africa Regional Office.

Le gouvernement namibien et la NAPPA, la Namibia Planned Parenthood Association, association, membre de l’IPPF, ont récemment signé un accord de coopération grâce auquel, la NAPPA recevra des produits de santé sexuelle et de la reproduction.
Les discussions sur ledit accord ont débuté à la fin de l’année 2009, après que la NAPPA a fait la preuve de la pertinence et du succès de ses prestations de services en matière de SSR auprès du grand public et plus spécifiquement auprès des couches sociales mal servies et marginalisées et aux jeunes.
La NAPPA, recevra gracieusement ces produits du gouvernement, et en retour, les redistribuera assortis de prestations de services gratuits à ses clients, tout en maintenant des standards élevés de rapportage compatibles avec le système de gestion des informations du pays.
L’accord prévoit également une assistance technique et un appui aux personnel de santé de la NAPPA dans tous les domaines de la santé publique notamment des formations en matière de dépistage du cancer de l’utérus, du cancer du sein, des soins obstétriques d’urgence, des méthodes de planification familiale modernes, de la santé sexuelle de la reproduction et des domaines y relatifs.
Cet accord vient à la suite du premier signé en juillet 2010 avec le Ministère de la Jeunesse, du Service National, des Sports et de la Culture, qui autorise la NAPPA a ouvrir des cliniques conviviales pour adolescents dans les 13 Centres Jeunes multidisciplinaires, à travers le pays. Deux cliniques sur les 13 vont être ouvertes prochainement avec le soutien de l’IPPF.
