Regional Treasurer

Ms. Eliane-Berthe Mokodopo

Until her appointment as the Treasurer of the International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Region (IPPF AR), Eliane Berthe Mokodopo has been a member of the Executive Committee. She has served at the Association Centrafricaine pour le Bien-Etre Familial (ACABEF) as the Head of IEC/BCC, General Treasurer and acting Chairperson of the National Governing Council.

From February 1997 to January 1999, Eliane was the Minister for Family Development, Social Affairs and National Solidarity and Minister for Public Health in the Central African Republic (CAR).

Eliane is a renowned consultant in gender, health and conflict prevention at national and international levels.  Her extensive experience led to her appointment as the lead CAR focal point for humanitarian, social and environmental issues in the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region process, from 2005 to 2006. Currently, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Regional Research and Documentation Centre for Women, Gender and Peace-Building based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, following her nomination by the Government of the CAR.

Eliane seeks to reverse the status quo where women and young girls fall prey to life-threatening situations and sometimes lose their lives, because they do not have the right information on avoiding unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions and family planning.  To this end, she has been working tirelessly to assist the most vulnerable populations in Africa to access quality sexual and reproductive health care.
